Vascular

Vascular

We provide a comprehensive range of vascular services aimed at assessing the health and function of the body’s circulatory system. These services are essential for diagnosing conditions that affect blood flow in the arteries and veins, such as peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, carotid artery stenosis, and aneurysms.

A key component of vascular imaging is the Doppler ultrasound, a non-invasive test that uses high-frequency sound waves to visualize blood vessels and measure the speed and direction of blood flow. Through this technology, sonographers and radiologists can identify narrowing, blockages, or irregularities within vessels, helping to prevent serious complications like strokes or pulmonary embolisms. Duplex ultrasound combines traditional ultrasound imaging with Doppler analysis to produce detailed images of both the structure and function of blood vessels.

Typical vascular studies performed include carotid artery ultrasounds, abdominal aortic aneurysm screenings, upper and lower limb arterial or venous Doppler studies, and venous insufficiency assessments. These tests assist in evaluating symptoms such as leg pain, swelling, or varicose veins and in monitoring post-surgical vascular grafts or stents.

All vascular imaging services are conducted by certified medical sonographers and interpreted by specialized radiologists, following the standards set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and the Diagnostic Accreditation Program (DAP). Referrals from a licensed healthcare provider are  required, and results are promptly shared with the referring physician to support timely diagnosis and treatment planning.
